Eden Pearlstein, also known as Eprhyme, is a Jewish Hip Hop artist. His music blends together diverse sounds and ideas such as Kabbalah, psychology, politics, and party rocking with elements of jazz, funk, klezmer, and middle eastern music to create a powerful and poetic plea for peace, justice, joy, and unity. A true Master of Ceremony, Eprhyme approaches both Judaism and Hip Hop with a profound respect for tradition and craftsmanship, balanced by creative freedom and poetic license.
Eprhyme has built a reputation as a dynamic performer and awe-inspiring lyricist, and has self-produced five full-length albums since 2000. Eden's work with Olympia-area concert series Word Life, has drawn national and international performers, and packed concert venues since its inception in 2004.
With years of experience as a musician and Hip Hop artist Eden set his sights on building a business around his creative leanings. He completed Enterprise for Equity's Business Training Program in the Spring of 2008 while working on his first album as a solo performer. It was a critical step for moving forward in his career.
Eden is now set to release WayWordWonderWill - The writing, recording, and production of the album has taken over two years of sustained and focused creative effort. The album is an exploration of the subtleties and complexities of modern american jewish experience, life in american cities, and cultural healing, to name a few.
Earlier this year, Olympia-area independent music label K Records released Punklezmerap, a 7-in. vinyl single from the soon-to-be-released Waywordwonderwill. Notably, Eprhyme is the first Hip Hop artist to be published by the label in more than a decade. Also during the past year, Eprhyme's efforts, experience and unique musicianship helped him secure a grant award from Seattle-based non-profit Artist Trust.
