It’s the effect of living in nature when you’re in this room, like you are one with the environment.” That is what one guest said of a home whose interior colors were designed by Christopher Gerber.

Earth Friendly, Exquisite Beauty, Health Conscious.” Artist Christopher Gerber has been painting large installations, murals and interior designs for residential and commercial customers for nearly 20 years. And his concentration on a solid business strategy in late 2004 with Enterprise for Equity’s training program helped to move this work into a thriving business. His nature-inspired designs are consistently emerging in his art, from Bellevue to Olympia. Much of this passion stems from his years of teaching environmental education classes around the country, and his deep appreciation for the earth.

Christopher realized early on that his health was compromised by working with traditional paint. Even with a respirator, the impact was too great. He valued his customers, himself and the earth too much to work with anything but earth-friendly materials. His attentive use of these materials over the years has genuinely impressed his customers.

As a member of the Eco-Builders Guild he connects regularly with eco-friendly businesses and works part-time as the Marketing and Art Director for the Nisqually Tribal Contemporary Arts Program. Some of his art appears on the faces and interiors of buildings in downtown Olympia. To see art installations and interior designs one just has to visit Christopher's website at www.gerberart.com for a glimpse.

Enterprise for Equity has helped artists and craftsmen learn to thrive in the business world; this ultimately enriches all of our surroundings. As more individuals are empowered to create the unique -- as opposed to the mass-produced -- our local economy and sense of community strengthens. Business counseling through Enterprise for Equity has helped me realize that it benefits my creative process to be a successful business owner.
