A New Leaf
Landscape Design

Enterprise for Equity gave me all of the tools I need to make my business a success. One of the tools I have found incredibly useful is how to use the resources at the library to research my industry, the local demographics and my competitors. Researching how landscape designers across the county are staying competitive during this recession has provided me with tips, direction and inspiration that is making my business a success.

When Lynne MacDonald talks about plants, people know they are hearing an expert. It is clear, right away, that landscape design is her niche — her art, as well as her expertise. Lynne's passion for the art of growing things is revealed in the landscapes of her customers and in her flourishing business.

A New Leaf Landscape Design offers a full range of services including consultation, hand-drawn design, site analysis, soil testing and amending, plant selection, planting, and supervision of sub-contractors. If you just want to get your hands in the dirt, she offers advice and expertise as a garden coach and consultant.

Lynne uses ornamental and native trees and shrubs to create the "bones" or foundation of the garden and annuals, perennials and even edibles for seasonal interest. Lynne designs easy to maintain gardens, while promoting organic landscaping practices. A New Leaf Landscape Design also offers pruning services: "Pruning is like sculpting...in the winter, you can see the growth habit of woody shrubs, the skeleton of trees."

"There may be a way to stop learning about horticulture, but I can't imagine it," says Lynne, who has been sculpting landscapes with living things since she planted some zinnias and nasturtium, becoming so enchanted by their miraculous growth she was enrolled in horticulture school a year later. Lynne MacDonald completed Enterprise for Equity's business training program in the summer of 2008 to strengthen the foundation of her business and has been pleasing her customers ever since.

Spring is the ideal time to let Lynne help you create a vision for your perfect garden. You can also get ready for the growing season and get help with your spring cleanup, planting and pruning by hiring Lynne for your garden projects.
