PIXIE HONEY COMPANY
For Emily and Benjamin Pixie their honey company is not just a business...it's all about the honey. They both worked with honey for years before taking the leap of starting a business. Emily has lots of experience cooking and baking with honey. Benjamin has been making mead for many years.
These beekeepers have studied bees and the industry of beekeeping for several years. They have learned valuable lessons from larger beekeepers in Eastern Washington. Benjamin and Emily believe in the power of education to raise awareness of our local food sources, the value of bees, and how imperative it is to honor this sacred food chain.
The Pixie Honey Company has been in operation for two years and the demand for their hives and their honey is growing. After graduating from Enterprise for Equity's business training program, both Emily and Benjamin have worked hard to maintain the incredible quality of a variety of products, including honey, bee pollen, botanical extracts, candles, and salves.
In just two years Emily and Benjamin have grown the Pixie Honey Company from 40 hives to 200 hives and they are helping pollinate small farms, blueberry bogs and other fruit all over the South Sound, including the Johnson's Organic Berry farm, Feral Fruits Farm, Newaukum Valley Farm and Wild Thyme Farm!
The Pixie Honey Company sells their honey year around at the Olympia Food Coop and will begin selling at the Olympia Farmer's Market for a second year, in June. Go and taste this precious treat -- it will melt in your mouth.
